Questions we hear before install day.
Will this break my Shopify checkout?
No. ReturnHQ runs as a separate embedded app in your Shopify Admin and a customer-facing portal at your subdomain. Nothing on your storefront or checkout flow changes. Refunds are issued through Shopify's standard refund API (or via UPI / bank for COD orders).
I'm already on another returns app. Is migrating painful?
We do the migration for you, free. Open returns get re-imported, your existing reasons and policies get mapped, your customers see no break in service. Average migration takes a working day; you keep your existing tool live until we hand off.
Can I refund a COD order to UPI directly?
Yes. That's the headline feature for Indian D2C. We integrate with Easebuzz Wire to push refunds straight to a customer's UPI or bank account. No store credit forced on the customer, no manual NEFT.
What couriers do you support?
Delhivery and Shiprocket for reverse pickup, with per-automation failover if your primary courier doesn't service a pincode. Both are connected with your own credentials, so you keep the courier rates you've negotiated.
How long does setup actually take?
30 minutes if you use defaults. Connect Shopify, set your return window, add a warehouse pickup address, paste your courier API key. Branding (logo, colour, custom message) takes another 5. You can configure policies and automations later. They're not required to launch.
What happens after I install, before my first paid return?
The Founder plan is free to install with no card required. You only pay $0.12 per return you actually process. Send yourself a test return from one of your real Shopify orders to see the full flow: portal lookup, reason, pickup, refund. Most merchants run their first 5 to 10 real returns through us before moving to the Growth plan once volume picks up.
Do I need a CA / accountant for the UPI refund payouts?
No. Easebuzz Wire is a registered payment service provider, so payouts are GST-compliant out of the box. Your refunds appear on your store's reconciliation report exactly like any other Shopify refund, with the destination (UPI / bank / card) noted per transaction.
Can I customise the return reasons?
Yes, fully. Add, edit, hide, reorder. Per-reason rules: which reasons allow exchange, which require a photo, which auto-approve, which trigger a manual review. The portal updates instantly.
